Have you ever showered or bathed on the beach with your hearing aids on?
Try the world’s first waterproof rechargeable hearing aid
Until now, behind-the-ear hearing aids could get wet with sweat or rainwater without being damaged. These hearing aids meet the minimum to obtain IP68 certification, which regulates and guarantees the level of resistance of technological devices against external elements such as dust and water. Despite, it is quite common for hearing aid users to forget they are wearing them and take them to the shower or pool, spending time and money on repairs.
The last release from the Phonak brand is rechargeable RIC model of hearing aids, called “Audeo Lumity Life”. Their newest feature is that it is the world’s first waterproof rechargeable hearing aid, allowing users to shower or bathe in the pool while wearing them.
The main difference with the previous ones, is that the laboratory ensures that the Audeo Lumity Life greatly exceeds IP68, subjecting them to quality controls that include immersion in chlorine pools, salt water, showers with shampoo, hot steam showers and many hours of exposure to sweat and environmental heat. In this sense, it has been achieved that they can be submerged in fresh, salt or pool water up to half a meter.
If we compare with the rest of the hearing aids on the market, the Audeo Life have additional protection in the four microphone ports, the joints are sealed with Gore-Tex silicone, the internal circuits are coated with parylene and the headphones are already not attached to the hearing aid with a pin, but are done using a pressure system without incisions. The battery is another newness, because these hearing aids are charged by induction with a lithium battery, so the base of this hearing aid is completely smooth.
In conclusion, the Audeo Lumity Life are an ideal solution for those hearing aid users who need to adequately perceive speech in physically demanding environments or want a hearing aid that is resistant to strenuous activities.
